Sahara Pune Warriors



Pune Warriors is  in  the Indian Premier League, representing the city of Pune. Yuvraj Singh, the  batsman of Indian cricket team, is the captain of Pune Warriors, while Geoff Marsh is its coach and former England all rounder Dermot Reeve is the assistant coach.

Pune Warriors is owned by Sahara Group. Sahara Adventure Sports Limited had made the winning bid of $370 million for the Pune franchise which is also the highest bid by any company in the history of IPL.

Pune Warrior’s logo has a spear wielding warrior on a stallion, with a 'jiretop' on his head, with the team's name next to it. The team colors are saffron, white and green.


Pune Warriors will make its debut in this season of IPL 2011. The team is looking good with great quality of players.


The team was one of two new franchisees added to the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the 2011 season.

2011 Season

The Warriors have signed Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh, Robin Uthappa, Angelo Mathews, Murali Kartik, Ashish Nehra,Graeme Smith , Abhishek Jhunjhunwala, Mithun Manhas, Ganesh Gaikwad, Kamran Khan and Yuvraj Singh was nominated the captain of the team ahead of the 2011 Indian Premier League. The Warriors got off to a successful start in the 2011 Indian Premier League by defeating Kings XI Punjab and Kochi Tuskers Kerala at home. On 3 May 2011, the Pune Warriors selected Sourav Ganguly to play for them as a replacement for the injured Ashish Nehra.
